TED (Targeted Engagement and Diversion) is a program at Shepherds of Good Hope. Operated by Ottawa Inner City Health, the program was developed in response to the high number of homeless people ending up in hospital ERs with symptoms of substance abuse and mental illness.
The program, part of the Transitional Emergency Shelter Program, offers a safe place for men and women to be monitored while under the influence, but supports easy access to treatment and care for substance use, physical health problems and mental illness.
While men and women are treated for health care issues, case workers with Shepherds of Good Hope connect with them to discuss other issues such as housing and lifestyle changes.
