Last week, we sent you a special letter to inform you about the impact the potential Canada Post shutdown is having on Shepherds of Good Hope.

With no certainty that a work disruption would be avoided, we did not send out our usual summer mail. Last year, our summer campaign raised more than $65,000 to help the men and women who rely on Shepherds of Good Hope every day.

Thank you to everyone who made a donation. But we are still far from our $65,000 goal. If you haven’t made a donation, please do so by clicking on this link or the donation box above.

Your donation will ensure that the men and women who come to us during the busy summer months get the food, shelter and support they need.

Finding Roy a home
Sleeping Man

Roy needs your help. Since moving to Ottawa 15 months ago, he has been homeless and living in the men’s shelter at Shepherds of Good Hope. Instead of finding a new start in Ottawa, he has experienced nothing but despair.

Roy is one of hundreds of men in Ottawa who are homeless and come through our doors every day looking for shelter and food.

When Roy came to Ottawa, he was hoping to make a better life for himself after a serious car accident in New Brunswick left him addicted to pain medication.

Roy underestimated what it would take to live in Ottawa. Almost from day one, he has lived at Shepherds of Good Hope. He says the frontline workers have been supportive and caring. They’ve helped him address his addiction issue but Roy is looking to the day he doesn’t call the shelter home. “I hope to meet a nice woman one day,” he says. “A shelter is no place to find love.”

You can help Roy start his new life in Ottawa by making a donation. Your gift will ensure Roy gets the care and support he needs in order to find his forever home and break the cycle of homelessness.

He desperately wants his own home. He wants to cook in his own kitchen rather than line up at the soup kitchen. He wants a home where he can display family photos of his two sons and his grandchildren. He wants to leave the chaos of the shelter and feel safe.

Please make a donation today and make an impact in Roy’s life.
